Senior Community Planner 

We have a career opportunity for a Senior Community Planner! This position will be under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager and will coordinate with other Project Managers as needed. This position has the opportunity for great career progression, working on challenging projects for a wide range of public sector clients. 

Location 

The selected candidate may report to any of our existing offices and/or work remote. 

The Impact You Will Have

  • Lead a wide range of planning efforts.
  • Review planning requirements for development projects.
  • Assist clients with all types of planning efforts.
  • Support a range of transportation operations and planning projects or related multimodal transportation studies. This includes leading key tasks or other project elements as requested.
  • Use/oversee ArcGIS and other analytical tools to support project outcomes and recommendations.
  • Oversee data collection, field observations, and technical project components.
  • Prepare/review written summaries of technical analyses and presentation materials.
  • Coordinate technical work, contribute to agency and stakeholder engagement, and assist with developing project strategies and approaches.
  • Serve as a liaison with key clients to coordinate Benesch projects and assist in successful project delivery.
  • Mentor, guide, and develop other staff.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of transportation and transit planning concepts, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of SDDOT regulations, policies, and procedures, transit regulatory compliance or financial considerations, and/or transit agency or related SDDOT experience a plus.
  • AICP preferred.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and writing skills. Ability to effectively forge client and teaming relationships.
  • Expertise in ArcGIS Pro and Microsoft Office; experience with other transit planning tools a plus.
