As Benesch's Railroad Division continues to grow, we are looking for a Group Manager for the Public Projects West team to help manage public project-related services across the western U.S. As a Project Manager, you'll oversee the full lifecycle of railroad projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining high-quality standards. You'll lead and mentor teams, cultivate client relationships, and drive continuous improvement. 

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15 years of progressive railroad experience providing project management services and working with various local and state government agency project sponsors. The role can be remote or based out of any of the Benesch western rail locations (Omaha, Fort Worth, Houston, Chicago, Kansas City).

The Impact You Will Have

  • Provide project management services for railroad projects, leveraging a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the industry.
  • Collaborate effectively with various local and state government agency project sponsors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Manage all aspects of project execution, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and provide comprehensive reports on project status, risks, and performance metrics.
  • Utilize advanced problem-solving skills to address project challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance project outcomes.
  • Option to work remotely or from one of Benesch's western rail locations: Omaha, Fort Worth, Houston, Chicago, or Kansas City.

What You Will Need

  • Minimum of 15 years of Class I, Short line, or agency railroad experience preferred
  • Licensed P.E. is preferred, but not required
  • Excellent communication and client relation skills
  • Proficient in Windows applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other basic computer skills
  • Strong written and oral communication and client relation skills required, with experience making presentations, attending conferences, and participating in project interviews preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, develop, and coordinate professional staff.
  • Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules #LI-MM1
