Civil Project Engineer 

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Civil Project Engineer looking to contribute to the strategic growth initiatives of our Illinois Civil group. In this role, you will both self-perform and direct project teams in the planning and design of infrastructure projects and play an essential role in managing client relationships.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Civil transportation design, demonstrating proficiency in areas such as geometrics, traffic highway, and drainage design. Previous experience utilizing MicroStation and Geopak is required.

Location

This position provides a flexible work schedule, with three days working from the Chicago, IL office and two days remotely. 

The Impact You Will Have
  • You will complete project design plans and work closely with Project Managers, integrating data and performing fundamental analysis of project elements
  • You will work on a broad range of projects for municipal, public, and private clients
  • You will establish project goals and milestones, define responsibilities, coordinate resources, and monitor project progress
  • You will ensure the development of high-quality engineering documents, including adhering to all internal procedures for quality control, documentation, and project tracking
  • You will champion relationships with key clients throughout Illinois.
  • You will contribute to other project work as a technical specialist or advisor, as needed
  • You will represent Benesch at industry events and have active involvement in professional organizations
What We Are Looking For
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related discipline required
  • 5+ years of civil transportation design experience, including geometrics, traffic highway, and drainage design using MicroStation and Geopak.
  • Licensed Project Engineer (P.E) in the state of Illinois.
  • You are experienced working with Illinois DOT/ Federal Aid Local Agency and will be well-versed in applicable codes and standards. 
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with internal staff, clients, contractors, agencies, and the public
