The Iowa Interstate Railroad (IAIS), which runs service from Council Bluffs, IA, to Chicago, IL, selected Benesch to serve as Owner’s Representative as part of a Master Services Agreement for the Chicago to Quad Cities High-Speed Rail Service, also known as the Illinois Passenger Rail program.
Benesch reviewed the overall operating plan for the corridor and proposed improvements by the Illinois Department of Transportation. To be in accordance with current American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) standards, Benesch reviewed other items of work included within the project, including new sidings and signals, as well as upgrades to various structures and track throughout the corridor to support the 50 miles of the new passenger, high-speed rail route.
Benesch also assisted with bridge structures on the project, ensuring IAIS project requirements were met and reviewing structure plans, ratings and estimates provided by Illinois DOT.
