The City of Pontiac sought to assess its current water system operations and target any deficiencies needing improvement. By utilizing hydraulic modeling and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, Benesch aimed to identify how to most efficiently operate the City’s system.
Benesch conducted a comprehensive audit of the water distribution network to determine water losses. The overall water audit included a field program and leak survey for 220 miles of pipe within the City. The survey results provided valuable insight on the condition of the water distribution network.
In addition, Benesch mapped hydrants throughout the entire city, providing key details and pictures to update the City’s GIS and water distribution network maps.
Benesch now performs leak location services for the City on an as-needed basis.
