This approximately two-mile-long project included design engineering services for 20 bridges and two retaining walls. The work involved various levels of bridge rehabilitation and widening ranging from minor deck repair to complete structure replacement.
The 20 bridge improvements include: 20 deck replacements and widening, four deck repairs with expansion joint replacement, substructure and superstructure repairs, three full structure replacements, two superstructure replacements, and one partial deck replacement with a pin and link retrofit.
Benesch led the project work involving pavement resurfacing, the addition of an auxiliary lane and a ramp realignment; a new roadway and high-mast lighting system, new underbridge and navigational lighting, traffic surveillance replacement, new expressway signing and drainage.
