Structural/Bridge Project Manager
We have a career opportunity for a Structural Project Manager with experience in the design and management of bridge and transportation projects. The ideal candidate will also have experience in bridge inspection, load ratings and asset management-related services. This person will serve as a key leader in our Kansas Division and contribute to initiatives that drive the overall growth of the office. As a Structural Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to manage assigned projects, providing direct supervision, mentorship, and overall leadership.
Location
This position will have a hybrid work schedule and, when in the office, will work from any of our Kansas/Missouri offices. This includes Kansas City, KS, Topeka, KS, Wichita, KS, Manhattan, KS, Lenexa, KS, or Kansas City, MO.
The Impact You Will Have
- Serve as project manager on bridge and transportation design projects
- Create and execute project work plans including developing project scope, schedule and budget estimates
- Manage project teams, accountable for budget and schedule
- Mentor junior staff
- Contribute to Kansas Division strategic growth initiatives
- Champion relationships with key clients, including KDOT and/or MoDOT
- Represent Benesch at industry and professional engagement events
- Ability to identify opportunities and lead strategic project pursuits
- Identifying resources needed and effectively delegating staff duties and responsibilities
- Create and Execute project work plans
- Serve as the primary interface between the clients and staff for a given project
- Coordinate, monitor, and review work performed by sub‐consultants
- Promote the team environment and communication and identify and address team conflicts
- Networking, including active participation in and leadership of professional organizations
What You Will Need
- BS in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Registered Engineer in Kansas or Missouri
- Minimum of 7+ years of bridge design experience including project management responsibility
- Proven experience on KDOT or MoDOT bridge projects preferred
- Seller/Doer mentality, client interaction experience a plus
- A track record of adhering to design budgets and project schedules
- Excellent communication and client relation skills
- Strong understanding and familiarity with steel/concrete design software
- Experience with bridge inspection, including completed NHI training a plus
- Practice good time management skills, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently within time constraints while dealing with numerous concurrent activities
- Willingness to travel to project/work sites as necessary
