Civil Engineering - Roadway Designer

Our growing Civil team is looking for a Civil Engineering Designer to join us and work on transportation projects that make a real impact across the communities we serve. Whether you’re a recent graduate or early in your career, you’ll have the opportunity to build your technical skills, work alongside experienced engineers, and contribute to projects for state and local transportation agencies.

At Benesch, you’ll get the resources and project opportunities of an established engineering firm with the accessibility and connection of a mid-sized company. You’ll work closely with experienced professionals, gain hands-on experience, and have opportunities to take on new responsibilities as you grow. Your work will include roadway design, engineering models, analysis, calculations, plan development, and coordination of project elements, with opportunities to gain exposure to both office and field work.

The Impact You Will Have

  • Support roadway and transportation projects from initial design through project delivery
  • Collect and analyze data and perform engineering calculations, modeling, and design
  • Develop roadway plans, design details, quantities, and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate design elements with project teams and assist with drafting and plan development
  • Organize calculations and project documentation according to project standards
  • Participate in field and site visits to gain firsthand project experience
  • Apply applicable codes, standards, and design criteria to project work
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and project managers while continuing to build your technical skills

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • EIT certification or interest in pursuing professional licensure
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively on a team and contribute to challenging projects
  • Willingness to support both office and field activities, including occasional travel to project sites
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines

Recent graduates are encouraged to apply!
