OMAHA, NE – Project Manager Erica “Sunny” Mullen’s commitment to the industry is recognized with her recent appointment to the American Public Works Association (APWA) Nebraska Chapter Executive Board. She will assist in recruitment, conference and special event planning, and strategic planning for the statewide organization.
“My involvement with APWA has given me countless opportunities to not only connect with others in the industry, but also to make an impact on my community,” said Mullen. “In this role as a board member, I look forward to helping the chapter grow and continue to support its members.”
In addition to APWA, Mullen is involved with the American Society of Civil Engineers – Nebraska, the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers. Equally as important to Mullen is her work to mentor and inspire the next generation of engineers.
As a volunteer with the Future City project-based learning program, Mullen provides engineering knowledge and guidance to middle-school students designing cities of the future. She currently serves as Region Coordinator where she guides the steering committees in planning and organizing the program.
Mullen started at Benesch as a summer student intern in 2010 and later rejoined full time in 2019 as a project manager on the civil team in Omaha, NE.
