Encouraging Global Giving

Benesch’s Key Partner Program was developed to connect employees with non-profit organizations related to their profession and to support their volunteer efforts. Over the years, employees have used the program to pursue incredible volunteer opportunities around the world.

Serving as a travel mentor for the Engineers Without Borders – University of Colorado-Boulder chapter, Benesch Project Manager Travis Greiman joined students on a trip to Rwanda to observe the installation of a rainwater catchment system they designed to provide potable water to a rural village.

Travis provided both technical (guidance on design, construction, local construction practices, etc.) and non-technical (guidance on the local culture, international travel and other related topics) support to the students as they worked to help various communities.

I love participating as a mentor, watching students process everything and helping them attain a new understanding of life through the travel experience.

Most students who travel on these trips return to the U.S. with an altered worldview that makes them better students, engineers and members of the global community. I am grateful to witness that transformation.

Through our Key Partner Program, Benesch donated funds to offset the travel costs the organization would need to raise for Travis to accompany the students as a travel mentor.

Returning to the Classroom

Benesch Project Engineer Craig Pezak, PG, PE, VMA earned his master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2017. Recently, he returned to his alma mater as an adjunct instructor and Capstone advisor. This achievement highlights Craig’s commitment to advancing the engineering profession and sharing his expertise with the next generation of industry leaders.

For the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to co-teach a master’s level geomechanics class that I was once enrolled in. Taking on an instructor role has been an incredible experience.

It’s really rewarding to be able to return to Penn and help students gain knowledge that will help them in their careers as industry professionals.

A valued member of Benesch’s civil engineering group in Pennsylvania, Craig has more than nine years of experience across civil, municipal and private sector projects, including major roadway reconstruction, bridge and culvert replacements and municipal infrastructure improvements. His return to Penn as an instructor is a testament to his technical knowledge, leadership and dedication to the field.

Our 2024 Year in Review

Every year, our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team works to facilitate a wide range of philanthropic activities and initiatives to further serve our mission of helping communities. Our passion drives us to donate our time and talents to worthy causes that further connect us to the people we serve every day.

In 2024, Benesch employees partnered with local and national organizations to help foster stronger, more resilient communities. Efforts ranged from food and toy drives to park clean ups and monetary donations.
