Asset Management

Leveraging specialized training and extensive practical experience, we help clients to develop strategic and systematic processes for inspecting, operating, maintaining and improving their transit assets, including vehicles, facilities, equipment and infrastructure.

With the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority (ATL) receiving Chapter 53 federal funds, the agency is required to have a Transit Asset Management (TAM) plan. Benesch assisted ATL in completing the analysis elements and final documentation for their Group TAM Plan for seven small transit operators within the ATL service area.

Bus Rapid Transit

For over two decades, Benesch’s Transit Solutions Team has been partnering with clients on BRT-related projects. Our comprehensive approach, combining technical expertise with a deep understanding of transit needs, enables us to develop solutions that enhance efficiency, accessibility and sustainability in urban environments.

Our multidisciplinary team is able to support BRT projects from initial feasibility studies through to design and construction. In Hillsborough, Florida, Benesch initiated a three-phase study with HART to identify the best corridor connection between Downtown Tampa to the University of South Florida Tampa campus via BRT.

Railway Signaling & Transit Signal Priority & Preemption

Benesch’s TSPP services include design and analysis of the interconnection of grade crossing warning systems with nearby traffic signal intersections. Our conceptual traffic signal design services encompass traffic signal preemption, signal timing, and signal phasing, including novel treatments for pedestrian service and ADA compliance.

As a part New York’s grade crossing safety technology initiative, members of the Benesch Team developed the Active Stopped on Tracks Warning (ASTW) system for grade crossings experiencing a high number of vehicles stopping on the tracks.
