Benesch Announces Officer Promotions for 2024

CHICAGO, IL – Benesch is pleased to announce the appointment of three new vice presidents within the company. Learn more about each of them below.

 


Mark Guikema, PE

Construction Group Manager – Colorado

Mark has 20 years of construction management and inspection experience and an extensive background in materials testing, pavement investigation and geotechnical design and analysis. Since joining the company, he has overseen continued growth of the team and successfully built upon the firm’s local reputation for providing quality construction services on some of the largest transportation infrastructure projects in the state.

Over the course of his career, Mark has developed a reputation for assembling agile teams best suited to adequately address all needs of a project in a cost-effective manner. He has honed a project-first approach which equips his staff with the tools and expertise required to quickly resolve issues and keep complex projects moving. In addition to his focus on our clients, Mark brings a strong dedication to the professional development of his staff and the recruitment of young professionals looking to build their skills in a long-term professional home.

Mark is also active within the industry outside of his work at Benesch. He is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies – Colorado and Move Colorado.

 


Jill Hayes, PE

Planning and Preliminary Engineering Group Manager – Illinois

As the Planning and Preliminary Engineering Group Manager, Jill oversees the company’s planning team for the Illinois division, which consists of multidisciplinary professionals skilled in planning, traffic, public involvement, alternatives analysis, NEPA processes and more. She is a key player in multiple business development initiatives for the company which aim to expand our planning and traffic practice at both the local and national level.

Jill’s leadership has led to the successful pursuit of a wide range of projects for clients in the greater Chicago area, including major suburban corridor and bike path studies, local agency intersection improvement and bridge replacement projects, as well as transformative streetscape and cycling improvements in the City of Chicago. She has more than 18 years of industry experience.

Outside of her work at Benesch, Jill is active in WTS and APWA. She also serves on committees for ACEC and IRTBA.

 


Elisabeth Schuck, AICP, LEED GA

Transit Group Manager – Florida

As Transit Group Manager for our Florida Division, Lis has been integral to the continued growth of Benesch’s transit planning services. She specializes in transit master plans, operational analyses, Title VI evaluations and equity assessments, and passenger intercept surveys, in addition to providing critical agency compliance support.

As a subject matter expert in transit planning, Lis’ expertise has been leveraged on major regional transit development plans and other large-scale transit initiatives for MPOs and local agencies in several states. She also brings years of experience in supporting strategic funding pursuits and continues to be an asset to our clients in the development of successful grant applications.

Outside of Benesch, Lis is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association. She has more than 22 years of industry experience.
