GASTON COUNTY, NC – Earlier this month, Gaston County officials and the Gaston County Economic Development Commission celebrated the grand opening of Apple Creek Corporate Center, a nearly 330-acre corporate campus targeting single-tenant manufacturing and corporate headquarters from around the world.

Benesch worked with the county on every step of this project, from site selection, parcel assemblage, and entitlements through to conceptual master planning, budgeting and construction management.

“The grand opening was the culmination of almost seven years of hard work by Benesch, County staff, commissioners and all our project partners. I can’t wait to see how Apple Creek Corporate Center enables the county to continue to grow and prosper,” said Benesch Senior Project Manager Benjamin Simpson.

Benesch has worked with Gaston County since they originally identified the need for greenfield development sites to serve large corporate and manufacturing projects in the region. Following this realization, Benesch provided site selection analysis, assemblage of approximately 330 acres (along with a successful rezoning petition and process) and the development of final design/bid/build documents that incorporate mass graded/subdivided parcels planned along a new 1 ½ mile parkway streetscape.

The park is expected to bring international manufacturing corporations to the area, resulting in new employment opportunities, greater diversity, and long-term corporate investment in the community. The park’s close proximity to U.S. 321, Interstate 85 and the Charlotte Douglas International Airport has been a major draw for tenants and Apple Creek is quickly becoming an economic driver for the region. GNT USA, Knoll America, Rankin USA and Premix have already invested in Apple Creek and additional tenants are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
