Project Engineer - Railroad Bridge / Structural (PE)
We're seeking a Project Engineer / Structural Bridge Engineer to join our dynamic Railroad team. As a Project Engineer in our Railroad-Bridge team, you will also contribute to strategic initiatives that drive the growth of the Railroad Division.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced rail professional with a strong technical design background within our railroad-bridge team; you'll be tasked with crafting designs and spearheading design projects assigned in alignment with internal protocols and the guidelines set forth by the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association (AREMA).

Benesch’s Railroad Division is made up of highly skilled rail professionals, many of whom are former employees of operating railroads. This firsthand experience working on designing and maintaining active rail systems uniquely equips our team to develop innovative solutions to a wide variety of rail projects.
The Impact You Will Have
- Performing basic analysis of project elements
- Performing load development and designing calculations of project elements, and checking work
- Preparing organized structural calculations
- Designing and drafting structural elements and details
- Developing task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner
- Performing tasks on schedule and within budget as assigned
- Working independently under the guidance of a Project Manager
What We Are Looking For
- BS in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or related discipline
- PE License or ability to obtain through reciprocity
- Minimum of 7 years of structural design experience
- Experience working with State's DOT preferred
- Excellent communication and client relation skills
- Progressive experience with developing plans and specifications utilizing Microstation
- Strong organization and leadership skills with a track record for adhering to design budgets and schedules
- Ability to perform complex analysis and design
- Ability to assemble a complete design package for assigned elements or projects
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary, overtime, and bonuses.
