Corporate Safety Intern 

We’re seeking a current student or recent graduate pursuing a degree in Safety to join our Corporate Safety team as a Corporate Safety Intern. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting real-world safety initiatives and incident response efforts within a dynamic engineering firm. You'll work alongside experienced professionals and contribute directly to meaningful projects that promote a strong culture of safety.

This role will gain exposure to a wide variety of safety programs and will assist with coordinating safety duties in areas such as helping develop new safety programs, going on project site safety visits, completing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), working with our safety committee, and developing safety initiatives.

Location

This position will have a hybrid work schedule and, when in the office, will work from our Kansas City, MO location the majority of the time, with some days being spent at our Kansas City, KS location.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Assist in maintaining safety records, including Pre-Project Safety Plans, Job Hazard Analyses, training records, safety inspections, maintenance of the OSHA 300 log, maintenance of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), Incident Investigations and Safety Dashboard Metrics.
  • Assist in coordinating safety duties in areas such as safety committees, new safety programs, and safety initiatives.
  • Assist in creating and developing safety programs for OSHA compliance and with Benesch’s Health & Safety Manual.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with prequalification requirements of various subcontractor management platforms (ISNetworld, Avetta, independent clients).
  • Assist in promoting safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations and client/contractual requirements.
What You Will Need
  • Actively enrolled in or recently graduated from a safety-related degree program
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week at the designated locations
  • Proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft Office Word/Excel/PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.  #LI-AG1
