CHICAGO, IL – At an awards dinner this month, the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE-IL) named Benesch Construction Group Manager Dan Gross Construction Engineering Person of the Year. The award recognizes his professional accomplishments and unique contributions to the civil engineering and construction profession.

Gross was nominated by Benesch Illinois Division Manager Andrew Keaschall and selected by the award committee based on several factors including industry organization involvement, community service, professional guidance to future and junior civil engineers, project innovation and excellence, and more.

“Since 2009, Dan has managed Benesch’s Construction Management Group where he has grown the group from 15 engineers to 40,” said Keaschall. “His successful track record on projects is further leveraged within the industry by the guidance he gives to future engineers in the construction industry.”

Former Benesch President John Carrato echoed these sentiments in his recommendation letter to the ASCE-IL awards committee.

“Dan’s leadership across several high-profile and large-scale projects, as well as his commitment to advancing the industry and volunteer work within his community, are only a few of the attributes that we believe make him deserving of this award,” wrote Carrato.

Benesch’s Illinois Division was also recognized at the event with the Private Sector Employer Recognition Award for supporting and encouraging technical and professional growth for employees through the participation in ASCE activities on the local, regional and national levels.
