This one-of-a-kind 35-acre athletic facility, dubbed Miracle Field, was designed to give persons with disabilities the ultimate game day experience. Benesch worked with the City of High Point to design this athletic complex which involved not only involved the “miracle” baseball field, but also included five full soccer fields, a baseball field, playground, picnic shelter, restroom and concession building and new parking. The Miracle Field was designed to interconnect with an accessible playground and Champion’s plaza, parking, restrooms, and sidewalk system.
All sports fields were designed for tournament-level play and can accommodate cross play and multiple age groups. They were also all lighted, irrigated, and have lush green Bermuda 419 turf. Benesch provided master planning, detailed design, bidding, and construction administration services. This complex serves as an important inclusive play facility in the area and provides the children in Highpoint and surrounding communities a safe place the play baseball.
