Eighth Street Greenway

The Eighth Street Greenway connects to Bakers Creek Park and the North Carolina Research Campus in downtown Kannapolis. The area has changed drastically over the past decade as it transitioned from a small North Carolina mill town to the site of a regional biotechnology campus. The greenway is part of the Carolina Thread Trail, a large regional trail system connecting fifteen counties surrounding the Charlotte area in North and South Carolina.

Following the Lumber Yard Branch, the corridor features a pedestrian bridge, culvert crossing, minor stream channel improvements, two at-grade road crossings, landscape improvements and other amenities. Benesch assisted the City of Kannapolis with detailed design, permitting, bidding and construction administration services.
