Worldwide Bridge Inspections
Benesch completed a multi-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) worldwide bridge inspection contract (task orders) for more than 300 bridges for the United States Navy. The work locations varied worldwide and included bridge inspections for installations across 19 states in the U.S. and offshore installations in Cuba, Japan, Guam and Spain.
The work included but was not limited to, topside and underwater bridge inspections in accordance with 23 CFR 650 Subpart C, of the National Bridge Inspection Standards, and 49 CFR 237 Federal Rail Administration Bridge Safety Standards.
Additional services included bridge load capacity and load rating analysis in accordance with the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials and American Railway Engineering and Maintenance of Way Association criteria; analysis of existing conditions and comparison to previous inspection reports; design of bridge repairs, including plans and specifications, report preparation and cost estimates; and the review of such documents produced by others in accordance with the Navy Bridge Inspection Program and Reporting Guidelines.
Inspection task orders varied, including initial, routine, special (interim), complex, damage (emergency), and fracture critical or in-depth inspections. Bridge facilities include vehicular and pedestrian bridges, railroad trestles, culverts and water control structures.
