Ryan Deane Named President-Elect of Connecticut ASLA

GLASTONBURY, CT— Benesch Technical Manager and Senior Landscape Architect Ryan Deane, PLA, has been named President-Elect of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (CTASLA) for 2026–2027. Following his term as President-Elect, Ryan will serve a three-year term as President, helping lead the organization’s efforts to advance, strengthen and advocate for the landscape architecture profession across Connecticut.

Ryan has been involved with ASLA since 2012, when he was appointed Chair of the Digital Technology Professional Practice Network. He has since presented at national conferences, published articles on technology in landscape architecture and served as a contributing editor for Landscape Architecture Magazine. His new leadership role marks another milestone in a career defined by professional involvement, innovation and service, following his achievement as Connecticut’s youngest registered landscape architect at age 22.

As President-Elect, Ryan will support CTASLA’s leadership while helping advance the chapter’s strategic goals. His priorities include increasing member engagement, strengthening industry partnerships, expanding professional programming and elevating awareness of the value landscape architects bring to Connecticut’s communities, economy and environment.

“Serving the profession through leadership has always been one of my long-term goals,” Ryan said. “As a father, it’s especially important to demonstrate to my daughters that we all have a responsibility to leave the world better than we found it. Landscape architects have a unique opportunity to advocate for healthier communities, a more resilient environment and a better future for the next generation, and I’m proud to contribute to that mission.”

Ryan joined Benesch in 2021 and works at the intersection of landscape architecture, transportation infrastructure, climate resilience and community development. His involvement with CTASLA complements his work at Benesch, where he advocates for innovative workflows and project delivery approaches that more fully integrate landscape architects into large-scale transportation and infrastructure initiatives, helping ensure public investments create lasting visual, social and environmental value for the communities they serve.

Through his leadership with CTASLA, Ryan hopes to strengthen collaboration across the industry, cultivate the next generation of landscape architecture leaders and advance the profession’s role in shaping more resilient, sustainable and vibrant communities.
