Benesch Announces Officer Promotions for 2026
CHICAGO, IL – Benesch is pleased to announce the appointment of three new vice presidents within the company. Learn more about each of them below.
George Horas Promoted to Executive Vice President
George Horas, PE, VMA
Chief Growth Officer
George was named Chief Growth Officer of Benesch in the fall of 2025. With more than three decades of industry experience and a 20-year career at Benesch, he leads the development and execution of Benesch’s strategic growth initiatives and plays a key role in supporting the long-term success of the company.
Over the last several years George served as Benesch’s Director of Alternative Delivery. His leadership was integral to the cultivation of strong relationships with contractors and national teaming partners and the continued elevation of the Benesch brand across the country. Prior to serving in this capacity, George was the firm’s Lehigh Valley Division Manager for 12 years. During this time, the Division nearly doubled in size and consistently met revenue, profit and sales goals, all while expanding its client base and increasing technical resources.
George has also served on Benesch’s Strategic Planning Committee, Governance Committee and Leadership Transition Committee, and currently serves on Benesch’s Board of Directors. His industry organization involvement includes previous positions on the Board of a local chapter of ASCE, ASHE and the IBC Planning Committee of the ESWP.
Rob Cursey and John Forni appointed as Vice Presidents
Rob Cursey, AICP
Transit and Transportation Group Manager – Florida
With more than 36 years of experience in transportation planning, Rob is known for his ability to deliver actionable, multimodal solutions for public agencies and has provided invaluable insight to projects throughout Florida and beyond. He is also a key player in multiple business development initiatives at Benesch which aim to expand our planning and traffic practice at both the local and national level.
Over the course of his career, Rob has played a significant role in the development of over 25 Long-Range Transportation Plans and has managed more than 50 general planning consultant contracts for MPOs and local governments. His work for the Florida Department of Transportation includes managing more than 20 districtwide planning and continuing services contracts over the last 25 years. Through these efforts, he continues to advance Benesch’s reputation as a trusted partner in transportation planning.
Outside of his work at Benesch, Rob is active with the American Planning Association and the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
John Forni, VMA
Senior Construction Manager – Colorado
With more than 28 years of industry experience, John is frequently called upon for constructability reviews, value engineering, and as a trusted project manager for complex, multi-stakeholder infrastructure projects. His leadership and technical acumen have established him as a trusted advisor for local governments and public agencies throughout Colorado.
Since joining Benesch in 2020, John’s impressive project portfolio has expanded to include highly complex construction projects such as the Waterton Road Phase 2 extension for Douglas County Public Works, the Arapahoe Road over Big Dry Creek Bridge Reconstruction in the City of Centennial, and the Quincy Avenue and Gun Club Road intersection improvements in Arapahoe County. His solutions-focused approach continues to strengthen Benesch’s reputation for industry-leading project delivery while making a positive impact in each of the communities he serves.
