LINCOLN, NE — Following a rigorous third-party assessment to evaluate Benesch’s materials testing lab equipment, processes and staff, the firm’s Lincoln-based geotechnical group has received accreditation from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

AASHTO Accreditation is awarded to laboratories that demonstrate proficiency in construction materials testing and conform with the guidelines established by AASHTO R 18 and the AASTHO Committee on Materials and Pavements. Maintaining the accreditation will require a detailed annual review of laboratory requirements.

“We’re very excited to receive this accreditation,” says Benesch’s Geotechnical Group Manager Brandon Desh, PE. “AASHTO represents highway and state departments across the country and virtually every mode of transportation—air, highways, public transportation, rail, and water. This accreditation will help prequalify our lab for a larger pool of geotechnical work opportunities in all of these categories.”

Benesch’s full-service team of geotechnical experts regularly provides field investigation, lab testing and analysis, and geotechnical reports. They also complete QA/QC reviews for geotechnical services completed by other subconsultants and provide geotechnical consultation for public project reviews.

In 2019, Benesch’s materials testing lab completed more than 10,000 in-house tests for clients across the United States.
