Elizabeth Gallagher, PE, SE Receives Crain’s Chicago Business Honor

CHICAGO, IL — Crain’s Chicago Business, a premier weekly business publication, has named Elizabeth Gallagher, PE, SE to the 2020 Notable Women in Construction and Design list. This honor profiles accomplished Chicago-area women in the fields of construction, architectural and commercial/industrial interior design. To make this list, honorees were considered against a variety of criteria, including overall years of experience and leadership position, range and magnitude of recent project work, and efforts to advance women in the industry.

Elizabeth, a Senior Vice President and incoming Great Lakes Regional Manager at Benesch, has more than 25 years of experience in the engineering industry, specifically in infrastructure design and construction. For the past four years, she has served as Illinois Division Manager, successfully managing and growing Benesch’s largest division. She also spearheads multiple strategic goals aimed to increase business in transit, private development and movable bridges.

Prior to joining Benesch, Elizabeth led a Program Management team for the Chicago Transit Authority tasked with delivering a $2.6 billion capital program with complex funding challenges. Her experience also includes management of large-scale design projects and programs for agencies such as the Illinois Tollway, the Chicago Department of Transportation, the Illinois Department of Transportation and Metra.

Elizabeth is widely recognized in the Illinois engineering community and beyond, with active engagement in multiple industry organizations including the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) and Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association (IRTBA), where she serves on several subcommittees. On top of Elizabeth’s many company and industry responsibilities, she is also an active volunteer at her children’s schools as well as her local parish.
