A ground breaking ceremony at the end of 2017 marked the beginning of an exciting transportation improvement project in Commerce City, CO. Since the construction of the Denver International Airport (DEN), the intersection of Tower Road and Peña Boulevard has experienced increased traffic from commuters, airport users, commercial trucks and local businesses. In support of greater regional connectivity and continued economic growth within the corridor, Commerce City, in conjunction with the City and County of Denver, DEN and the E-470 Public Highway Authority, is building a $12.1 million on-ramp connecting Tower Road to westbound Peña Boulevard. The project also includes widening and reconstruction of Tower Road, in addition to new sidewalks, curb ramps and major drainage and water quality improvements.

When completed, the project will provide a much needed north-south arterial connection capable of handling the corridor’s Average Daily Traffic (ADT) count of more than 30,000 vehicles.

Benesch was selected by the City to provide construction management and inspection services for the project, which will be completed in the Spring of 2019.
