New Sheridan Underpass Brings Multimodal Improvements to Westminster, CO
WESTMINSTER, CO – Crowds gathered on June 10 to celebrate the opening on the Sheridan Underpass, a new passageway designed to provide an easy multimodal connection from Downtown Westminster to the RTD U.S. 36 and Sheridan Station. Having provided construction management services for the project, Benesch team members joined local officials and the community in celebrating the opening with a ribbon cutting event.
“It’s an honor to be a part of this project and to celebrate with the community,” said Project Manager James Newberry. “We are excited for the public to utilize the Sheridan Underpass and benefit from improved transportation opportunities in Downtown Westminster.”
Funded with a mix of local and federal dollars, the project featured the creation of a new pedestrian path underneath Sheridan Boulevard for commuters and bicyclists as well as roadway improvements to the busy Sheridan Blvd corridor. The underpass is designed to improve connectivity for the area and provide a safer crossing for pedestrians and cyclists.
In addition to attending the ribbon cutting event, Benesch was proud to sponsor a chalk mural on the tunnel wing wall.
