95th Street Terminal Transportation Management Plan
The Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) 95th Street Red Line station over the Dan Ryan Expressway serves thousands of commuters daily and is a vital part of the City of Chicago’s south side transit network. As part of the terminal’s reconstruction, Benesch developed a Transportation Management Plan (TMP) to reduce and eliminate crashes and mitigate congestion.
The TMP required heavy planning, coordination and analysis to anticipate any interference or lane closures on the Dan Ryan Expressway that may occur due to the 95th Street Terminal Improvement project. In addition to the TMP, Benesch developed a Traffic Control Plan, Transportation Operations Plan, and Public Information Plan to ensure a safe working environment.
Efforts also included the development of simulation models (morning, evening, off-peak and night) and intersection analysis to evaluate the impacts to the Dan Ryan Expressway.
