Minatare Wetland Delineation

Benesch completed a delineation on a segment of US-26 and L-62A, a two-lane highway. The delineation identified 115 wetland areas (totaling 19.542 acres) within the survey area and ten stream channels (totaling 9,192 feet in length). An Approved Jurisdictional Determination (AJD) and Environmental Assessment (EA) were completed as part of this project.

The project is unique in that irrigation canals and ditches run along the project corridor. Artificial irrigation influences natural wetlands, creates wetlands and contributes water to ephemeral streams. Benesch completed an environmental impact matrix for the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) to evaluate design options. Wetlands, cultural resources, home relocations, and threatened and endangered species were all considerations for design options.
