Chris Steinway Named Benesch General Counsel

Benesch is pleased to announce that Chris Steinway has joined Benesch as the firm’s new General Counsel. Chris brings over 16 years of progressive leadership experience managing complex legal, risk management and human resources functions.

Utilizing his extensive expertise in legal strategy, enterprise risk and executive leadership, Chris will lead Benesch’s risk and safety functions, as well as direct and coordinate our organization’s professional liability, safety, compliance and legal agendas.

Prior to joining Benesch, Chris served as General Counsel, Secretary & Director Human Resources for The Belt Railway Company of Chicago, where he held enterprise-wide accountability for a $120M railroad operation jointly owned by all major U.S. freight railroads. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University and earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He later studied at Harvard Business School and completed the General Management Program in 2022.
