Kenneth Perkins Named one of Nashville’s Black 40 Under 40

NASHVILLE, TN — At the annual Nashville Black 40 under 40 awards this month, Benesch Project Engineer Kenneth Perkins was recognized for his work as President of the Nashville Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Hosted by StayontheGO Nashville, the event brought together the best and brightest millennials to be celebrated for their contributions to the community.

“It’s an honor to be recognized and mentioned amongst my peers and to join the 2021 Class of Black 40 under 40,” said Perkins.

Perkins first joined ASCE while studying engineering at Tennessee State University. Upon graduating, he took on leadership roles within the organization, such as Social Media Chair and PE Review Chair. Serving as president of the ASCE Nashville Branch from 2019 to 2021, Perkins had the challenge of virtually leading the organization through the pandemic.

Perkins joined Benesch in 2020 and has contributed his expertise in signal design, roundabout design, traffic control plans and roadway design to projects across Tennessee. On the recently completed Tennessee Department of Transportation’s I-65 widening project, Perkins was responsible for the traffic control and ITS design. He is currently designing the Murray Lane roundabout for the City of Brentwood, TN. Perkins looks forward to advancing his career with Benesch and continuing to serve his community.
