Citywide Pavement Management Plan
Staff turnover meant a loss of institutional knowledge of pavement management, resulting in the City having no asset or pavement maintenance plan in place. To overcome this, the City engaged Benesch through a multi-year pavement management program starting in 2017. Repairs were prioritized to best utilize available program funding.
Once pavement conditions were obtained, a five-year pavement preservation plan was developed with various funding level options. Streets were prioritized based on several criteria and incorporated project elements such as curb and gutters and ramps. Benesch prepared bidding documents and plans, allowing the City to add additional repair areas with the lower unit bid prices and remain under the annual budget.
Benesch also provided design and construction management and inspection services for concrete panel repairs, ADA improvements and pavement markings. The project finished ahead of schedule and under budget while minimizing impacts to traffic.
