A growing population and increased demand for park and recreation facilities resulted in the redevelopment and expansion of Harrisburg Park. Existing on 33.3 acres, the park currently consists of multi-purpose fields, a concessions/field house, restrooms, the Town’s Local County Library Branch, walking/biking trails and a large pavilion. In addition, Harrisburg Park is home to several regional-sized events, including the Harrisburg July 4th Celebration. The town acquired an additional 34 acres on the west end of the park, allowing the park to double in size.

Benesch assisted the Town from the initial site master plan through the final design. In addition, Benesch oversaw the architectural design and prepared a Parks and Recreation Trust Fund grant application for which the Town was awarded $350,000. The renovated and expanded park will feature four soccer fields for tournament play, multi-purpose play fields, an amphitheater and stage, a splash pad, an inclusive playground, expanded walking paths and picnicking facilities.
