Benesch designed and provided full-time construction management and inspection services for the repair and new construction of flood-damaged retaining walls, roadways and slopes throughout Jefferson County, Colorado.

This project included constructing four different retaining walls and three reinforced soil slopes along mountainous roads. Benesch was able to maintain traffic during construction by utilizing phased construction and temporary shoring. Varying bedrock depths were experienced, which resulted in a new foundation system design consisting of micropiles drilled into bedrock with a cast-in-place concrete cap to support the mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall.

In addition, these projects involved roadway reconstruction, stormwater improvements and guardrail installation. The Twin Spruce Road location involved repairing and armoring the bank along South Beaver Creek. The projects were FEMA-funded and required federal aid documentation and Buy America compliance.
