BOSTON, MA – Benesch’s Matt Card has been named the Boston Society of Civil Engineers Section (BSCE) 2023 Engineer of the Year. The award recognizes Matt for his extraordinary leadership in the form of managerial leadership, technical excellence, professional integrity and mentorship of other engineers. Matt was joined by Benesch co-workers and leaders to celebrate at the organization’s annual awards dinner.

“As a longtime member and supporter of BSCE, it’s an honor to be selected to receive the Engineer of the Year award,” said Matt. “To have my dedication and contributions to this industry recognized by such an influential organization is something I won’t soon forget.”

Matt has over 40 years of experience in civil engineering, including serving as Benesch’s Massachusetts Division Manager until his retirement in 2022. He has managed the design of many notable bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects throughout Massachusetts including the replacement of the N. Washington Street Bridge in Boston. In addition to his work with BSCE, Matt has served as Co-Chair of the Local Planning Committee for the ASCE/SEI Structures Congress and been a long-time member of ACEC/MA, serving on its board of directors and as past co-chair of its transportation agency liaison committee (TALC).
