Franklin County Parks & Recreation Master Plan

Franklin County, NC

Franklin County’s previously completed master plan was over two decades old. Therefore, an updated plan was needed to accommodate the increased pressures on the parks and recreation facility offerings. Key to developing a new plan was identifying changes within the County and its municipalities that have occurred since the previous plan. Of particular note was the sizable growth which expanded northeast from Wake County and Raleigh area.

Benesch worked with a subconsultant to develop a recreation needs analysis for the County and provide more attainable recommendations on park and recreation facility development for the next ten years.

Development of the new parks and recreation master plan included inventory and assessment, recreation needs assessment, establishment of action plan items and implementation strategies. In order to best serve the County, the master planning process included working with a master plan committee, County staff and County residents through public workshops and a community-wide survey.
