Novant Health Matthews Medical Center

Benesch worked with Presbyterian Healthcare to develop a master plan for a 60-acre community hospital campus for the Town of Matthews and southeast Charlotte. The site, which was developed in a campus-like atmosphere, is centered around a .5-acre lake at the main entrance. This lake is a visual amenity for the campus and provides a source of water for lawn irrigation.

Phase one construction included a 102-bed hospital, an emergency department, a 100,000-square-foot attached medical office building, and parking for 800 cars. Benesch continued to provide design services for a number of building and parking expansions as the campus developed. Final site development includes a 400-bed hospital and 1,000,000 square feet of medical office space.
