Benesch served as the public involvement contact, coordinator, and facilitator for the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) US 92 Pedestrian Improvements Design-Build Project, which consisted of all design and construction for pedestrian improvements and related items along International Speedway Boulevard in the City of Daytona Beach.

The project included the replacement of existing sidewalks, a closed drainage system, and the construction of a new pedestrian bridge. Benesch assisted FDOT by serving as the project spokesperson and coordinating with local government agencies, stakeholders, media, and the public. Other tasks included preparing the Community Awareness Plan, mailing lists, documents distributed to the public, and media releases.

Benesch was also in charge of coordinating meetings with major stakeholders, updating FDOT’s CFLRoads website with current lane closures and detours and responding to public comments daily. Benesch also orchestrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony, showcasing the ADA accessibility and safety features for pedestrians.
