Augusta University Amphitheater

Augusta University sought to create an outdoor gathering space for students, faculty and the local community at their Summerville Campus. Benesch designed and provided construction management for a new amphitheater to meet this goal.

Elements of the amphitheater were designed to reflect the higher education venue while maintaining a relaxed and comfortable environment. Components such as seating tiers allow the public to enjoy the space even if a performance is not taking place, while ADA-accessible design allows for all members of a community to participate in various events.

The amphitheater was designed with a turf surface and a complex drainage system. This system ensures that a quick rainfall will not cancel an event.
