Regionwide CMGC Delivery for ADA Upgrades

Colorado Department of Transportation | Region 1, Colorado
ADA construction

In order to upgrade and replace existing ramps throughout Denver Metro to bring them into compliance with American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, Benesch and our partners provided construction management, design review, scope development, independent cost estimating, construction inspection, and materials testing services for this $8 million Region 1 ADA CMGC project.

Benesch personnel have been involved with every aspect of the project, supporting CDOT and the project team in reviewing project plans, identifying potential conflicts that could impede construction of compliant ramps, and presenting solutions to stakeholders.

During construction, Benesch provided CMCI for the project. Responsibilities included measuring and tracking quantities for pay items, observation of traffic control items for compliance with approved MHT’s and MUTCD standards, inputting of completed ramp measurements and slopes into Survey123, coordination with local municipalities and the contractor regarding construction activities, review of contractor pay applications, site manager input and other tasks as requested by the CDOT team. Benesch also provided pre-construction services on design and packaging input as well as independent cost estimating (ICE) services to negotiate and verify proposed costs from the CM/GC contractor.

The team continues to proactively support the project through multiple construction packages that stretch from Douglas County, along the I-25 Corridor through the Denver Metro, and US 36 from Denver towards Boulder.
